I feel confident in my first day in this Internet studies class being taught by Nigel, a hilarious teacher from my first impressions, he's just explained to me how to write a blog and how to sort out my wikipage, all of which I was clueless to about 10 minutes ago and now its sinking in and I've created this blog and my wikipage http://lccspring.pbwiki.com/Papiya I'm not entirely sure what the following weeks will bring yet but its definately going to be a refreshing course in which I will learn a lot about myself and how the Internet effects me and society. I've never had a blog before but from what I am aware of, its like writing a diary only its not just for myself, but for the internet audience to read too. I like handwriting in my paper diary but it takes effort to find my diary and then get a pen and then write and then store it somewhere safe where my mum can't see it lol. Bloggings far easier as this video says http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLlGopyXT_g Its like emailing but it can be read by loads of people simultaneously. I log in and write whatever I feel and can make it private easily. I'm definately going to be blogging on any exciting adventures I trek on after university has finished, if I go on any hopefully. This is random but I just discovered theres a little button at the top to translate my words into Hindi so if theres anyone out there who is fortunate enough to understand Hindi like me, heres a message for ya'll वेल्कोमे टू माय ब्लॉग एंड इ होप उ एन्जॉय रीडिंग माय दिअरी उ नोसेय पीपुल! ;)
I have been asked to reflect upon myself right now, in order to reflect, I must know what it means for me. For me its about standing outside myself and viewing myself as a whole instead of going through one secluded experience in one particular time, I would look back and see all those experiences in relation to one another. What I see necessarily would not be fragmented, I would be able to see how and what effects each thing without it being distorted.
Reflecting can be hard for me sometimes though as I'll view things how I would like to see it as opposed to how it really is. The whole point of the blog is to keep a diary and be reflecting on my progress through the 9 week course.
Reflection by Christina Aguilera
Look at me
You make think you see
Who I really am
But you’ll never know me
Every day, is as if I play apart
Now I see
If I wear a mask
I can fool the world
But I can not fool my heart
Who is that girl I see
Staring straight back at me?
When will my reflection show
Who I am inside?
la la la la la......what a beautiful song it is and so true! :)
I guess sometimes people won't reflect on me how I reflect on myself because they would see different and experience different things about me than I do myself. I came across this website which really helped me to understand and appreciate the value of reflection. Theres lots of theories in there about reflection and I will using the strategies as Rowntree (1988) says reflection is studying one's own study methods as seriously as one studies the subject and thinking about a learning task after you have done it. Unless you do this, he says, the task will almost certainly be wasted.
Wise words and I would be intelligent to listen to it. http://www.practicebasedlearning.org/resources/materials/docs/Reflection%20Work%20Based%20Supervisors/index.htm
After putting much thought into how my blog should look, I put up picture of Homer Simpson entering the world of digital animation in cyberspace which by the way is my favorite Simpsons episode. I chose this image because its funny how he's an animated character in one dimension entering another parallel universe much like us when we are in reality and we enter the internet, yet how its not tangible or physical that can be touched but it can feel that way. Then my background is a milky way/galaxy/black hole type thing (I just know its something floating in space) to represent how endless the internet is. I didn't just insert any random images throughout my blog entries but have carefully constructed it according to my perspective of the internet or what my blog post is talking about.
